Buick Skylark (1964)
It's with great sadness that after 15 years of shared joy, the time has come to sell my Skowron.
This 1964 Buick Skylark Convertible is in its original specifications – both the engine and transmission (both rebuilt). It has a 300-cubic-inch V8 engine and a two-speed Super Turbine 300 automatic transmission – a popular drag racer in the US (it can reach almost 100 km/h in first gear).
The leather upholstery and roof are in very good condition. The sunroof is power-operated, as are the driver's seat and windows.
The chrome spoked wheels are mounted with a center bolt.
Mechanically, everything works as it should.
Interestingly, the car has never seen the US – it was manufactured at the GM plant in Bienne, Switzerland – so the gauges are calibrated in km/h, not miles.
The Skowron has been sitting in a heated garage since the 2019 Polish Grand Prix for Historic Vehicles. This year, I finally decided to take it out, so the brakes went straight in for repairs because they were seized.
Unfortunately, during the service, worse news emerged – after 60 years of service, the Skowron needs a body shop. For everyday driving, the chimney is no problem, but the rear body mounts to the frame have nothing to hold onto. The frame, however, is in good shape.
So, I'm selling it at a price that includes the necessary bodywork and paintwork. The car is so unique that once the bodywork and paintwork are in order, its value will undoubtedly reach six figures.
